MANILA, Philippines — State-run Social Security System (SSS) said it recently launched its own mobile application to provide members another platform to access the state fund’s services.

In a statement, SSS president and chief executive officer Emmanuel Dooc said members could now access their membership information using their smartphones and tablets with the new SSS mobile app.

Dooc said the mobile application was launched to provide members with more convenient means to view their personal records and other relevant information without visiting SSS branches.

“Based on recent studies, smartphone usage in the Philippines will increase by 70 percent this year. In that regard, we are taking advantage of this opportunity by creating this SSS mobile app so that members can easily access SSS information and services right at their fingertips,” Dooc said.

Dooc said the SSS mobile app is a free service for the state fund’s members.

To start using the new SSS mobile application, he said mobile users should log in using their My.SSS account’s user ID and password. Members who don’t have a My.SSS account yet can use the SSS mobile app in creating an account.

Among the SSS information that can be accessed via the SSS mobile app are contribution status, benefit claims information, employees compensation (EC) medical status, salary loan application status and outstanding balance, and documentary requirements for SSS membership, benefit claims application, and UMID card enrolment. “Members need not worry on any possible data breach since the SSS mobile app has its own security features and requires the entry of user ID and password,” he said.

SSS is continuously automating its services for the convenience of its members.

Earlier this year, the SSS started the implementation of its real-time posting of contributions system.

This allows the instant validation, transmission and acknowledgment of SSS contribution data between the payment facility and the SSS system, and subsequently, the immediate posting of a member’s contribution record.

Dooc said the system would address delays in the posting of contribution payments, which results in ineligibility to SSS benefits and loans, and delays in the processing of claims.
