ALI launches first BPO campus in Baguio City

-

MANILA, Philippines - Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI) breaks ground for its first mixed-use development in the city of Baguio. The Baguio-Ayala Land TechnoHub is envisioned to be an integrated IT community consisting of five to seven low-rise buildings with approximately 6,000-10,000 square meters gross leasable area each within a 12-hectare property in the Camp John Hay Special Economic Zone.

Set amidst the temperate environment of Baguio City and the idyllic landscaped greeneries of Camp John Hay, this office campus development is designed to address the unique requirements of business process outsourcing (BPO) and information technology/information technology-enabled services (IT/IT-ES) firms. The Baguio-Ayala Land TechnoHub will be supported by a retail component featuring select retail concepts.

Construction of the first building is scheduled to begin by the second quarter of this year. It is targeted to be completed by December 2010.

Upon completion, the development is expected to generate more than 20,000 jobs from the BPO offices, retail establishments and support maintenance services. The retail component will attract both residents and tourists alike, further supporting the local economy and the tourism industry of the city.

The Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) has placed Baguio City as part of its top 10 Next Wave Cities. Potential locators can take advantage of the city’s rich talent pool, with over 14 colleges and universities producing about 22,000 graduates per year. This together with the city’s available infrastructure, its cost competitiveness and its friendly business environment add to Baguio’s attractiveness as a BPO destination.
