BayanMAP Corp., a member of the Lopez Group of Companies, has signed an agreement to purchase majority stake of FindME, a Singapore-based location service provider with operations here in the Philippines.
BayanMAP provides Geographic Information Services (GIS) to enable its clients to improve precision in their marketing, sales and field asset management operations. These enabling services include data pinning and query, location finder, best route and coverage planner.
These applications are critical in target marketing, customer segmentation modeling, field asset management, property development, security and utilities maintenance and location-based services.
As such, BayanMAP can be useful to key sectors of the economy such as utilities, communications, manufacturing, sales and marketing, banks, petroleum companies and government.
The technologies and mapping techniques it uses are world-class and enables it to locate virtually anything that can be seen via aerial photography or field survey. It can display these data points on the web or on wireless devices.
The Lopez Group has invested close to P90 million for creating the maps and developing its GIS-based services. It now has over 250,000 establishments under 250 data categories such as hotels, stores, hardware outlets, apartments and supermarkets.
It is targeting to pin one million establishments within the next 12 to 18 months. Its consumer-version maps can be accessed for free at www.pinoycentral.com.
FindME is the only location-based content provider that has significant presence in the country. Like BayanMAP, it also provides enabling services but its focus is on real-time tracking and the communication of the information to various WEB/WAP/SMS-enabled devices.
It is also engaged in GPS-based mapping service such as data pinning, facilities mapping and location finder.
The key strength of FindME lies in its capability to develop and/or enhance hardware and software to capture, analyze and report geographic and location information anytime, anywhere through any communication device. It currently services the wireless telecom companies Smart, Globe, ZED, five internet portals and is in alliance with Nokia, Ericsson, Microsoft and Intel.
The investment of BayanMAP into FindME represents a strategic step for BayanMAP to merge its technology with real-time tracking capability. More important, it signifies a point of synergy where FindME and BayanMAP will bring together their resources, people, processes, clients, customer insights and even their allies to work toward providing web/wireless services and products that will further delight customers.
