Why add Paleo Smoothies to your diet

- Featured Blogger Sean Anthony -

Rob Reyes is one of my old teammates and introduced me to a diet called the “paleo diet”. It has also been referred to as the “Paleolithic” or “caveman” diet. The theory behind the diet is that humans have evolved over millions of years to thrive off on foods only found in nature: game meats, fish, vegetables, wild fruits, eggs and nuts. Our bodies have adapted over time to function at its best while consuming these foods. Only recently in the last few hundred years have we introduced unnatural processed foods that our bodies aren’t used too. In the paleo diet, we avoid all processed/refined foods and only eat food that our longtime ancestors could hunt or gather. So paleo smoothies are smoothies made with these natural ingredients that our bodies over time have learnt to function on the best.

For me, smoothies are refreshing, easy, inexpensive and a great way to nourish our bodies. But I’ve noticed that here in the Philippines, most of the smoothie places have added sugar or syrup so I decided to make my own. So here are five benefits of taking paleo smoothies.

1. All ingredients in Paleo smoothies are fresh and natural, which our bodies thrive on.

2. Our bodies can absorb up to four times the nutrients from foods that are blended when compared to foods that we chew.

3. Smoothies are easier to digest. The point of digestion is to break down the foods into the simplest forms so they can be easily absorbed. In smoothies, the products are already blended so it is very easy to break down and digest them.

4. Smoothies are a simple, easy and affordable way for us to consume nutrient dense foods.

5. They are easy to make, easy to clean and make for a quick and easy snack or meal. They only take a few minutes to make and there’s only the blender and glass to clean after
