Quezon province’s old and illustrious families, business tycoons, dignitaries and crème de la crème friends of society were in full force at the 96th celebration of the Quezon Tayabas Association Inc., which was held at the grand ballroom of the luxurious Sofitel Philippine Plaza, palanggas.

The organization, founded in 1923 by First Commonwealth of the Philippines President Manuel L. Quezon, is known to be one of the oldest and most prestigious socio-civic and non-profit organization après internationally renowned Kahirup Ball of the sugar baron and baroness of years gone by.

The Quezon Tayabas Association’s 96th Grand Ball was dedicated to providing programs and services that focus on improving the lives of the people of Quezon province.

Themed “English Interlude of Lords, Ladies and Legacies,” the well-heeled society members were dressed to the nines. Ladies wore eye-catching gowns with headpieces and dazzling bling-bling, while the men looked dapper in bespoke suits. Leading the beautiful and philanthropic pack were Association Gentleman president Romley A. Mendiola, First Lady Myra P. Mendiola, Association Lady president Elaine Marie Barbers Barcelona, First Gentleman Jonathan E. Tamayo and Youth presidents Maica L. Ylagan and Chino P. Bayoneta.

The cucumber-cool Rep. Tingting Cojuangco and socialite Tessa Prieto Valdes were guests of honor.

The highlight of the event was the coronation of head-turner Aindrea Ma. Regina Gabrielle Barcelona Tamayo as Belle of the Ball of the Quezon Tayabas Association. She is the daughter of Lady president Elaine Barcelona and Jonathan Tamayo. She was escorted by Rodge Matthew Mendiola, son of Gentleman president Romley Mendiola and his wife Myra. The crown was handed over by Governor Danilo Suarez and Rep. Aleta Suarez, sash by Mayor Ramon Perez, and the scepter by Rep. Anna Marie Villaraza-Suarez.

“The well-deserved recipients of QTA’s 2019 projects include the upgrading of operating rooms and surgical equipment of the Quezon Medical Center and for the building and rehabilitation of San Pedro Calungsod Parish Church in Pury, San Antonio, Quezon,” said president Elaine Barcelona.
