MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has recognized efforts to expand reliable mobile connectivity to underserved and geographically isolated communities, honoring initiatives that help bridge the country's digital divide during its Digital Bayanihan Awards.

Among the awardees was Dito Telecommunity Corp., which received the "Bayani sa Last Mile" award in recognition of its continued network expansion aimed at improving access to education, livelihood opportunities, digital services and economic participation across the country.

The award was presented during the DICT Digital Bayanihan Awards held at the Bahay ng Alumni in the University of the Philippines Diliman campus, part of the agency's 10th anniversary celebration and the observance of National ICT Month.

"Being recognized as 'Bayani sa Last Mile' is a meaningful affirmation of Dito's purpose as a telecommunications company. From the beginning, our mission has been to bring world-class connectivity to every Filipino, especially those in underserved and remote communities," Dito President and CEO Eric Alberto said.

This year's National ICT Month carried the theme, "Isang Dekadang Digital: Konektado sa Puso at Serbisyo," marking a decade of the country's digital transformation. Through the Digital Bayanihan Awards, the DICT recognized public and private sector organizations whose initiatives have contributed to digital inclusion, innovation and nation-building.
