Superbike riders vie in 4th leg

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s top riders brace for another tight finish as they clash in the fourth leg of the Pirelli Superbikes Championship Series, the FDR Philippine Scooter Racing Championship Series and the FDR Underbone King Championship Series tomorrow at the Clark International Speedway in Clark Field, Pampanga.

Defending champion Dashi Watanabe of Aprilia Grandstar shoots for his fourth consecutive win against Ducati’s Raniel Resuello in the Pirelli series serving as part of the Motorsports Championship Season presented by Petronas while reigning Underbone king Nino Fabian goes for back-to-back against Johnlery Enriquez and third leg winner Herbert Lopez.

Masato Fernando also seeks a repeat in the FDR Series of the event sanctioned by the Underbone and Scooters Racing Association (USRA), the Superbikes Racing Association (SBRA) and sponsored by Petronas, and media partners Racing Beat @ Wave 89.1, Inside Motoring @ DZRJ810khz and Motorsiklo Xklusibo @ DZME 1530.

Focus will also be on the Pirelli Motorad Superbikes Cup that Pirelli put up as a junior league for future Superbikes riders. Clint Nolasco swept the two races to clinch the Class A crown while Josh Shepley and Richard Panlilio split honors in the Class B category.

Also on tap are the Ducati Cup, Moto IR, Alpinestars Cup, Honda Dash, Honda Beat One Make Race, MTRT Club Race and the MTRT Club Race 115cc Scooter.

Meanwhile, Watanabe has racked up 75 points following his third straight win even as he hopes to firm up his hold of the solo lead and keep the Superbikes crown.

But Resuello is out to foil his bid along with top contenders Marvin Mangulabnan, Anthony Roman, Johnlery Enriquez, Ducati’s Jussi Hoikka, Jericho Arnaiz, Lawrence Macalinao and Rizaldy Canare among others.
