Saucony backs Cebu marathon

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The first Cebu Marathon fires off today at the I.T. Park in Cebu City with over 3,000 runners expected to participate in the event backed by Saucony, the multi-awarded running shoe brand worn by the world’s elite runners.

Events on tap are the 21K and 42K categories.

Saucony also took part in the Cebu Marathon’s sponsors’ product exposition at the Ayala Center Cebu Terraces recently where patrons availed themselves of exclusive special discounts on the latest Saucony models.

The award-winning Kinvara 4 will be on display on Saucony’s booth during the Cebu Marathon. Saucony’s fourth-generation natural motion icon is a lightweight, cushioned trainer that remains mostly unchanged from its predecessor with some tweaks made to make it even stronger, the company said.

Weighing only 7.7 ounces (based on men’s size 9), the Kinvara 4 is a performance-training shoe with a 4mm heel-to-toe offset that positions the runner’s foot to better take the impact of striking the ground. This creates a greater range of motion than traditional running shoes (with a 12mm heel-to-toe offset), allowing for a more powerful stride.

The Cebu Marathon also marks the launch of the partnership between Saucony and one of the country’s top triathlon teams – Team PLDT, composed of top executives from different companies, including top age groupers and qualifiers of local and international marathons among their ranks.

Kinvara 4 is available at specialty run retailers and major department stores nationwide. In Cebu, Saucony is available at SM Cebu Department Store and The Brick.
