Hamilo Coast hosts Salomon X-Trail

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Hamilo Coast, an eco-friendly resort with sweeping views of hills, mountains, valleys and greeneries, plays host to nature lovers competing in the  Salomon Philippines’ X-Trail Pilipinas 2013.

The event was first organized in 2008 and has been held in different countries around the globe, including South East Asian countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia and the Philippines. This year, the Salomon Team expects more runners to flock and blaze through the challenging trails.

The Salomon Philippines’ X-Trail Run will be held at the premiere setting of Hamilo Coast, whose natural beauty of mountains and vales and whiffs of fresh air promise to give the runners a refreshing boost of energy as they rip through the road.

Hamilo Coast is envisioned to be the country’s premier coastal resort town. This paradise encompasses vast hectares of land, 13 coves and long stretches of beautiful coastlines in Nasugbu. It is also Hamilo’s long-term plan to create a network of self-sustaining communities composed of residential, commercial and institutional elements built on a sustainable blueprint.

Hamilo Coast is also home to a diverse population of marine life. Its developer, Costa de Hamilo, Inc. works with the local government and World Wildlife Fund for Nature Philippines to conserve and support the environment.

The Salomon team has created new trail routes exclusively for the event to attract more trail running enthusiasts and trail runners from different levels. Runners can expect the trails to be a combination of different terrains – deep and technical, made up of dirt, sharp and loose rocks, sand and paved roads.

Runners from the 6K, 12K and 24K category can look forward to a “Road-to-trail” course.

The 6K  category targets beginners who want to explore the world of trail running. The 12K category invites participants with basic trail running experience to level up their game by running on a technical terrain. For experienced trail runners determined to find their edge, the 24K mountain run will simulate ascents of Skyrunning races – an arena where Salomon reigns.

The Salomon X-Trail Pilipinas 2013 is a green run. No disposables will be provided at the hydration stations. All runners are required to gear up with their own provisions.

Finishers of the 6K and 12K categories will be given an event jersey, race bib, timing chip and a meal to enjoy post-race. Runners from the 12K and 24K categories will receive a limited edition Salomon Band. All finishers will be given a medal and a Salomon Finisher’s bag with freebies.

For added fee of P450, the first 300 registrants can avail of one bus seat from the R.O.X. branch at Bonifacio High Street going to Hamilo Coast and back. Every registrant can also avail of only one additional seat in the bus.
