PVF women’s beach volley up at Cantada’s

MANILA, Philippines - The first PVF Women’s Beach Volleyball National Invitational gets going Dec. 8 with some of the country’s leading and upcoming teams vying for top honors at the Cantada Sports Center in Bagumbayan, Taguig City.

Nestea champion Central University of the Philippines, led by Jovelyn Gonzaga, Tagum City’s Lourdilyn Catubag and Karen Kaye Quilario; and Metro-Manila’s Angela Benting and Nerissa Bautista head the crack roster of teams clashing in the two-day tournament.

Others in the fold are Rizal’s Technological University’s Jessa Aranda and Jonafer San Pedro; University of St. La Salle Bacolod’s Sheryl June Denila and Patty Jane Orendain; La Salle Dasmariñas and a Pangasinan team.

Philippine Air Force also confirmed its participation in the inaugural staging of this beach volley event backed by industrialist/sportsman Lucio “Bong” Tan Jr. and sanctioned by the Philippine Volleyball Federation.

The event is organized by PVF director Edgardo “Boy” Cantada and sportsman Gerard Cantada in coordination with PVF headed by chairman Pedro Mendoza Jr. 

Like in any sports events organized by the Cantadas, fees have been waived with the father-son tandem even providing complimentary air tickets, provincial land  transportation, board and lodging and other assistance to the participants who will be billeted at the Cantada Sports Center starting Dec. 7.

The games will be telecast on a delayed basis nationwide on Pinoy Extreme on Destiny Cable and worldwide on ABS-CBN Global Limited’s The Filipino Channel.
