Jong, Liza set pace after fiery rounds

MANILA, Philippines - Scores soared as national bowlers Jong Enriquez and Liza del Rosario sizzled with impressive rounds to grab the Class O singles lead in the 41st PBC-PSC-POC Open championships Tuesday at the SM lanes in Mall of Asia, Pasay City.

Enriquez tallied 1424 (670-754) to finish ahead of fellow Phl bet Kenneth Chua (1332) and TBAM-Prima’s Richie Poblete (1330) in the men’s division while Del Rosario, considered one of Asia’s top lady campaigners, recorded 1342 (646-696) to pace another national player, Rachelle Leon, who posted 1303 (649-654).

TBAM-Prima-UPHS’ Rosel de Leon, TBAM-Prima’s Girlie Solis, PBA’s Nilo Penado and TBAM-Prima’s Jhoana Lualhati also paced the singles event in the other divisions of the tournament sponsored by PSC, POC, Boysen, PCSO, Team Prima, F.R. Sevilla Construction, HCG and Enervon.

De Leon rolled 1295 (541-754) to move ahead of PBAP-Bowlmart’s Kevin Cu (1285) and DATBI’s Marwin Santiago (1236) while Solis, the tourney’s deputy overall chairperson, scored 1245 to overtake PBA’S Lynn Tan (1220) and MBA’s Alice Cabazor (1176) in Class A.

Penado turned in 1295 to nose out TBAM-Prima’s Joshua Autida (1247) and SJBA’s Dondon Tan (1218), while TBAM-Prima’s Lualhati chalked up 1235 to pull away from BALP’s Nida Lagrisola (1144) and TBAM-Prima’s Bea Hernandez (1126) in Class B.

Bea Hernandez ‘s 1126 was good enough to pace the ladies’ Associate Masters eliminations.

Also making it to the Associate Masters’ scoreboard were TBAM’s Pure Anselmo (1125) and Carmen Yalosig (1092), BALP’s Nida Lagrisola (1090), TBAM-Prima’s Jingle dela Rosa (1085), PTBA’s Jane Diaz (1079). MBA-CRMA’s Alice Cabazor (1050), PTBA’s Jojie Cabacungan (1048), TBAM’s Lina Labaguis (1041) and TBAM-Prima’s Lou Laforteza (1038).
