Yulo Memorial gets going at Cangolf

MANILA, Philippines - One hundred forty-five teams composed of 290 players set out for the 34th Jose Yulo Memorial golf tournament which unfolds today at the north and south courses of the Canlubang Golf and Country Club in Laguna.

Gabriel Manotoc and Sebastian Lorenzo go for back-to-back championship against a big field in the annual 36-hole event held in honor of the former Speaker and hosted by Cangolf.

A brand-new Mitsubishi Lancer EX GLX, courtesy of Mitsubishi Motors Corp. and Diamond Motors Corp., is at stake as hole-in-one prize on No. 6 at the north course and No. 8 of the south.

Other prizes for aces are Club Car golf cart, courtesy of Club Car Phils., on No. 15 (north), and a Texas Eagle Golf Cart, courtesy of The Turf Company, on No. 4 (south).

Tour Master-Taylor Made, from Boom Coscolluela, is also offering a Taylor Made R9 iron set for ace on No. 4 (north), while Mizuno stakes a brand-new T Zoid golf set with bag for hole-in-one on Nos. 13 and 17 (south) and on No. 11 (north).

Other backers of the event are Coca-Cola Bottlers Phils., Inc., Golden Nutritious Foods Corp., ICTSI, Krah FPS, Merlo Agricultural Co., Nature’s Spring., Oakley, OPMC, Otsuka Pharmatceutical Co., Pacsports Phils., Inc., PEPMACO Manufacturing Corp., Pepsi-Cola Products Phils,Inc., Peter Paul Phils., Pilipinas Golf Tour, PROFRIENDS, San Miguel Corp. Seamecor, Inc.Tonic Care Purified Water, Whealth, Inc. LORO, G Score, with The Philippine STAR and Daily Inquirer as media partners.

The winning pair in the member-guest tournament will receive two Samsung LED 32” plus trophy while the runner-up will get two Devant LED 26” plus trophy. The third placers will go home with two BlackBerry 9300 and trophy.
