PAF, Cavite IXs enter semifinal

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, Philippines  -- Philippine Air Force overwhelmed Benguet, 8-0, while Cavite City crushed Baguio, 8-3, to advance to the semifinals of men’s play in the 2011 Cebuana Lhuillier-Chooks To Go Summer Grandslam Softball Invitational Championships at the Wangal Sports Complex here.

Zamboanga stayed in the running for the semis in blanking Fongwan, 16-0, in the tourney sponsored by Pera Padala, Just Jewels, Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Solutions, Le Soleil de Boracay and Phiten.

Dasmariñas won by default over La Trinidad also in the men’s division.

Expected to make the men’s semifinals from the other group are Marikina and Zamboanga.

Meanwhile, Adamson blanked defending women’s champion University of Santo Tomas, 7-0, to complete a sweep of its five elimination-round games.
