Cudala scores 2nd sweep in Castrol racing

-

MANILA, Philippines - Raymond Ryan Cudala proved his consistency as he bagged his second straight sweep recently in second leg of the 2011 Castrol Champions of the Future Series at the Boomland Track, CCP Complex.

The 12-year-old Grade 5 student of Elizabeth Seton School was unstoppable as he pulled away early running with a fastest laptime of 36.2 seconds to dominate both the pre-final and final races of the event organized by Castrol and its partners Tuason Racing School, the Automobile Association Philippines, Alaska, Pena Motorsports, AUTS Racing, Bridgestone, PUMA, OMP, Jaguar, Lifeline, Carmona Race Track, The Philippine Star, 99.5RTfm, Trapik.com, Kzone, Top Gear and Timezone.

With his feat, Cudala earned 30 points for the day to preserve his solo lead in the Group A division.

William Casequin, the nine-year-old son of touring car champion and TRS race car driver Stuart MacDonald, was actually third in the qualifying time trials with 37.14 seconds but gave a fierce fight in the actual race to check in runner-up in both races and earn 24 points in Group A.

Arthur Tuason, son of multi-titled champion JP Tuason and the grandson of the late legend Arthur Tuason, was only fifth in the time trials with 38.36 but showed aggressive driving to wind up third in both races for a total of 20 points.

Seven-year-old Flynn Keeling Jackes and Iolo Estanislao, a 10-year-old Grade 5 De La Salle-Zobel student, end fourth and fifth respectively.

Gabriel Cabrera likewise pulled a sweep Group B for a total of 30 points as he turned back 13 yrs old Philippine Science High School freshman Dominique Lao and Ronin Leviste, the 11-year-old son of Batangas Vice Governor Mark Leviste.

Dylan Arambulo and Mathew Maramba made it fourth and fifth in the Final race.

All participants were each given a medal as Castrol Philippines president Mars Sota was impressed with how the kids performed on a different track.

“This is their first time to race at Boomland as I’m really amazed at how the Tuason Racing School taught these kids to easily acclimatize themselves with this unusually fast track. And it’s a good experience to train them for future international competitions,” said Sota.

The other participants include Arielle Leviste, Jose Luigi Lachica, Galen Yap, Julian Gabriel L. Espino, Brian Joshua Thorp and Xedrei Daquigan.

The winner of the said series will be given a scholarship package to run in the National Karting Series from AAP under the tutelage of multi awarded race car drivers and champion makers JP & Mike Tuason.
