Rodriguez leads field in Phl Ladies Open repeat

-

MANILA, Philippines –  Cyna Rodriguez has confirmed her participation in the 2011 Philippine Ladies Open Amateur Golf Championship, raring to defend the crown she won in runaway fashion when the event is held Jan. 12-14 at The Country Club in Laguna.

Rodriguez, one of the four ICTSI golf scholars based in the US, dominated the field with a brilliant final round performance en route to a seven-stroke romp over teammate Lovelynn Guioguio at the Manila Southwoods.

But she is expected to encounter stiff resistance this time from an expected stellar field headed by her teammates in the ICTSI squad which call the challenging TCC layout their home.

They include former champion Chihiro Ikeda, Dottie Ardina and Mia Piccio, members of the national team which turned in a best record of joint eighth finish in the recent World Amateurs in Argentina.

The field also includes a crack squad from Malaysia and a host of Korean players out to spoil the local bets’ party in the annual 54-hole championship organized by Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines.
