BOC seizes P7 million drugs declared as car mats

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has confiscated two parcels containing Ecstasy drugs worth P7 million at the Clark International Airport.

The BOC conducted the operation in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)–Airport Interdiction Unit and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The shipments of 4,124 Ecstasy tablets originated from Austria and were bound for Davao City.

Both parcels arrived at the Clark International Airport on Dec. 24, 2025 and were flagged by the BOC’s X-ray Inspection Project team for suspicious images.

A physical examination was immediately conducted by customs examiners in the presence of PDEA and PNP personnel.

The shipments were declared as car mats, but upon examination, the first parcel yielded 2,693 Ecstasy tablets with an estimated value of P4.6 million.

The second parcel contained 1,431 Ecstasy tablets worth P2.45 million.

The pills tested positive for illegal drugs during on-site testing conducted by PDEA operatives and the BOC’s handheld spectrometer.
