MANILA, Philippines - Tropical Storm Dante maintained its strength as it started to move away from the country yesterday, the state weather bureau said.

As of 4 p.m. yesterday, Dante was 1,335 east of Casiguran, Quezon with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. The storm was moving north-northeast at a speed of 15 kph.

The storm was forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility this morning when it will be 1,520 kms east of Aparri, Cagayan.

Dante, the second tropical cyclone to enter the Philippines this month, did not affect any part of the country.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services  Administration said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms would continue to prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country until weekend.
