5 bolt Cotabato jail

COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Five inmates, who are facing rape and illegal drugs charges, bolted the provincial jail here before dawn yesterday.

Orak Makalay, Hakino Mento and Tampakan Antilino were recaptured at a police checkpoint while Fahad Sangki and Faisal Macarimbang are still being hunted.

Jail warden Macapagal Blao said the inmates cut the grill of their cells using hacksaw blades that were allegedly smuggled in by visiting relatives.

Blao said the group pulled off their escape amid a heavy downpour.
