A truly unique birthday celebration oh yes, it’s johnny johnny litton
In these unprecedented times, we have had to look for creative ways to stay connected and celebrate the best in each other.
I recently commemorated my 84th birthday, and to be honest, I wondered if it was even possible to make a day of it with our current situation. Wonderfully, my dedicated team and friends really came through for me in ways I did not expect. Some of my longtime friends from the diplomatic, business and social sectors organized an enjoyable Zoom gathering themed “1920’s in 2020.”
Jayelles president Roselle Rebano welcomed guests to the chat room, as light jazz music played in the background. A touching prayer started the ball rolling, followed by special greetings and touching messages from well-wishers like Ambassador of Japan Koji Haneda and wife, Madame Ihoko, Ambassador Jesus “Chuching” Tambunting, Ambassador Victor Garcia and wife Connie, Titania Wines chairman Tita Trillo, Bonifacio Landmark Realty and Development Corp. president Hans Hauri and wife Bo, Jojo Zabarte, Wilcon SEVP-COO Rosemarie Bosch Ong, RichPrime Global Inc. president and CEO Myrna Yao, Sterling Bank of Asia president and CEO Paul San Pedro, and Ambassador Effie Ben Matityau and wife Lizia, who were joining us from all the way in Panama.
Also seen on screen were consul Betty Chua, consuls Louie and Mellie Ablaza, consul Fortune Ledesma, consul Helen Ong, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry honorary chairman and treasurer Serge Ortiz Luis and wife, Marge, DMARK Beauty Corp. and DermAsia Corp. CEO Nikki Tang, CIE British School founder, president and CEO Prof. Nelia Cruz Sarcol, The SAEM Philippines CEO Winnie Go, Marco Polo Plaza Cebu director of sales and marketing Lara Constantino Scarrow, Hoseki COO Harold Co, EMotors Inc. chairman Helen Lee and president and CEO Beth Lee, among others.
The thoughtful guests also serenaded me with a birthday song as I blew the candles on my cake. It was lovely to see the beautiful and radiant faces of my friends, who took time out of their busy schedules to celebrate my birthday with me. They even went the extra mile by dressing up in elegant suits and stunning outfits from the comfort of their homes. It was a delightful way of being reminded that, despite our difficulties, there will always be so many things to be grateful for.
