With 50 wonderful years behind them and still?counting, retirees Francisco Asayas, fondly called Junior, and Gemma Asayas, long-time residents of America, decided to renew their vows at their lovely summer home in Palompon, Leyte.

Andrea Larrazabal Tan, Ormoc’s foremost florist and event planner, transformed the veranda into a magical garden where a solemn Mass was officiated by Monsignor Jimmy Villanueva.

Witnessing the renewal of wedding vows were the couple’s children Lloyd, Owen and his wife Gina. Sorely missed were daughter Venia who just gave birth to a healthy baby, and son Errol whose wife is expecting a visit from the stork soon.

Also in attendance were Gemma’s siblings Annabel Gonzalez who flew in from Las Vegas, younger sisters Sylvia with husband George Liok, Danet with lifetime partner Tony Dabon and only brother Adolfito Alvarez with petite wife Joyce.

Guests enjoyed a superb menu complemented with lots of excellent wines and delightfully rich desserts.

Entertainment was provided by bubbly niece Andrea Dabon who sang the inspirational song The Prayer which left everyone quite emotional.

Junior turned to his partner of 50 years and professed his love, thankful for all those beautiful memories and priceless moments and for her dedication, unconditional support and encouragement that transcended every trial and obstacle they encountered.
