Let Ito Kish spruce up your home for the holidays
A fresh take on houseware this holiday season by Ito Kish.
Robinsons Department Store / Released

MANILA, Philippines — Barely six months after he closed his shop in Makati, multi-awarded furniture designer Ito Kish is back! But this time as creative director of Robinsons Department Store's Home Section.

It's like a homecoming of sorts for Ito who worked as a visual merchandiser for Robinsons Department Store in the ‘80s — putting up displays that would invite shoppers to buy the products and to move around the space in a logical manner.

So if you're one of Ito's clients who miss going to his store — with its polished wooden doors and gleaming store windows filled with design pieces Kish himself has handpicked — along Nicanor Garcia, it's time to head to a Robinsons Department Store near you and check out Ito's fresh take on pieces to add to your home this holiday season.

It's like a homecoming of sorts for Ito Kish who used to work as a visual merchandiser for Robinsons Department Store in the '80s.

For years, Ito has successfully used design to weave stories through beautiful pieces that are more than just decor. So before going on a shopping frenzy, Kish says it’s better to gather your thoughts first and "think of a story on how you imagine your space to look like."

And since the amiable designer believes that when you're surrounded by beautiful things, your mind tends to be in the same state, expect to see elegant, simple and minimalist pieces that are easy on the eyes and have a calming effect.

Ito has carefully selected two collections to choose from: The Cool Life, which is inspired by modern minimalism and Scandinavian design; and the Icelandic collection inspired by hygge, a Nordic tradition that celebrates comfort and joy at home.

Refreshing touches of blue and white complement the prints that symbolize water found in the Cool Life ceramic decor and houseware collection. On the rack, we spotted vases in various shapes and sizes, decorative trays, scented candles, fruit bowls and embroidered throw pillow cases.

Characterized by clean lines and clever functionality, the Icelandic collection features ceramic vases that make for perfect holiday floral arrangements and throw blankets for nippy nights ahead. Its warm, yellow and gray palette bring warmth to your home this holiday season.

While Ito's personal style is reflected in the two collections, the designer admits that he also considered the needs and design sensibilities of the market.

With prices ranging from P199 to P1,499, you'll definitely find the perfect gift items for your loved ones and friends this Christmas. And what's nice about these collections is that each item can stand on its own or enhance existing features in a home.

With Ito Kish, mixing and matching pieces for the home has never been this cool!

The Cool Life and Icelandic collections are exclusively available at the Home Section of Robinsons Department Store.
