27th FIBA-Asia Championship: Bakbakan Na!

Pio Garcia - The Philippine Star

So you’ve heard that we are grouped with Taiwan in the 27th FIBA-Asia Championship this coming August?

Great?

No?

Ahh yes, yes, it should be great. We want a beatdown I assume?

If you ask me, I would say I want Gilas to beat that freaking team to a pulp. Thirty points would not do it. I want 80. That and us teaching them geography becausel they don’t know geography. Consider this is a post-rant to that seaside shooting.

We have to defend our homefloor, folks. And with the inclusion of Beau Belga to the team, boy are we really going to defend our homefloor. That mastodon can flex his shoulders and elbows all he want, he’s free to do it. It’s FIBA basketball and things can’t get more physical. No silly handchecking. No crappy backyard fouls. Good, damn hard fouls is what you need in FIBA. If you have to grab the arm, then wrap it up you must, Padawan.

See, that’s the beauty of it, aside from Belga trying to exchange culture with the Taiwanese team. Chinese Taipei you say? Well, guess what, I’m out of diplomacy. I want the Gilas boys to play ‘em rough and tumble, that they should go back home crying, or in a box. Why? You don’t beat up foreign workers who keep your country afloat that’s why, hooligans. Respect? The only respect you deserve is to be taught the geography of the hardwood, the tiny cracks of the wood parquet as you get slammed to the floor repeatedly.

I hope Japeth Aguilar discovers that beast inside him and posterize them all with impunity most of the time. They cry for murder, well let’s get away with multiple counts of it on the hardwood. Nothing sweeter than pasting accusers with force. Junemar Fajardo has to show to the world that hey, here’s a young Kraken getting seasoned in international play and you better watch out. Even Marcus Douthit should join the fun – after all, he’s a Filipino now.

But it all boils down to Belga. Angas ng Bigas, as my boss likes to call him. Big Beau was brought in for one reason alone: be my enforcer Beau. Show these boys how it is to play the big guys’ position under Yeng Guiao. Rattle their cages, get under their skin, those skinny Taiwanese folks will be like sandbags for you, ready to be punched, grounded, bullied, pasted and sent home in a box.

Respect?

I have none.

Them Taiwanese, and remotley, the Chinese, need to learn their geography.

We need Belga’s elbows and pabaons as study tools.
