Skyjet prides itself as a ‘leisure airline’

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Advancements in aircraft development and the construction of runways in remote regions of the Philippines have led to the discovery of exotic locations which are now among the country’s leading tourist destinations.

Coron in Busuanga, one of the islands in Palawan’s Calamian group, is a favorite diving spot for the dozen sunken Japanese warships in its waters. Batanes, previously a commercial stopping point because of its typhoon belt location, has become a center for cultural exchanges with the native Ivatans. Virac in Catanduanes has great beaches which are fantastic for surfing. Finally, there’s the paradise of Boracay, which has attained worldwide popularity among lovers of sand and sea.

Skyjet offers a welcome affordable alternative for flights to these locations.

According to CEO Joel Mendoza, “Skyjet’s mission is to provide quality air transportation service to the public that adheres to the highest standards of safety in the aviation industry. As the newest pacesetter in the domestic aviation industry, Skyjet — in partnership with our investor Dino Reyes-Chua and his Greenbelt Hotels International which shares our vision — has set out with a passion to promote the tourism potential of Batanes, and endeavors to break new grounds in niche tourist destinations in the country.”

What makes Skyjet’s aircraft a cut above other airlines? “Skyjet is a full service airline; no need to pay extra for your seat. We provide snacks (and) drinks and we want to make flying enjoyable. Our aircraft can also carry three tons of cargo, including perishable goods. Plus, no more angry passengers with baggage being bumped off,” Mendoza said.

For passengers who are concerned about safety, they will be relieved to know that the planes have a high performance record in the United Kingdom. Skyjet utilizes British Aerospace-manufactured four-engine BAE-146 series 200 and 100 jet aircraft. Called “whispering jets” for their quiet engines and capability of landing in short and unimproved runways, these aircraft are no wonder the choice of the British royal family.

Skyjet is currently flying to Coron, Virac and Batanes. Flights to Caticlan, Boracay will start in February. Passengers will be thrilled to know that the airline also offers hassle-free specialized travel packages.

Planning to travel to beautiful, undiscovered locations in the Philippines? Look no further than Skyjet. As Mendoza proudly says, “Skyjet offers a unique jet service with a personal level of experience. We are especially proud of our culturally rich destinations, showcasing the beauty of the islands and its people. Skyjet is your leisure airline.”
