Art for everyone at the SM Mall of Asia

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Contemporary art takes centerstage with “Art Now For Everyone” at SM Mall of Asia. The week-long exhibit features the youthful visions of over 50 artists.

Curated by renowned art scholar Dr. Patrick Flores, “Art Now For Everyone” highlights over 70 works of Philippine contemporary art from the most respected art galleries in Metro Manila. These include the Tin-Aw Gallery, Silverlens Gallery, The Drawing Room Gallery, Finale Art Gallery and Galleria Duemila.

“Art Now for Everyone” brings together over 50 artists of varying aesthetic backgrounds, styles, and themes, recognizing the high level of stature that Philippine contemporary art has achieved in the global scene. The different contexts that shape the artists and the complex realities we face are reflected in their art.

Irene Marcos-Araneta, Tina Colayco, UP College of Fine Arts dean,; Jeremy Barns, National Museum director, and Maritess Pineda, Museum Foundation of the Philippines, and Purissima Benitez-Johannot graced the event’s launch. Other guests were artists and art gallery owners, including Silverlens Gallery’s Isa Lorenzo, and The Drawing Room’s Jun and Cath Villalon. TV personality Paolo Abrera hosted the event, while experimental rock band Up Dharma Down treated mall-goers to performances.

“Art Now For Everyone” is part of SM Mall of Asia’s commitment to celebrating the country’s arts and culture through hosting art and cultural fairs — bringing them closer to mall-goers, offering accessible, affordable and modern masterpieces to the public.
