A very musical Christmas at the Shang

-

MANILA, Philippines - It’s going to be a music- and performance-filled Christmas as premier lifestyle destination Shangri-La Plaza unveils its lineup of events for this year’s holiday season.

The Shang’s Yuletide celebration is a musical feast featuring stellar acts, beginning with Vox Angeli Children’s Choir, Jay Cayuca, and choirs from the following schools: St. Theresa’s College Choir, OB Montessori Greenhills Choir, La Salle Greenhills Grade School Choir, Ateneo Primary and Grade School Choirs and Miriam College Grade School Junior and Senior Glee Clubs.

Celebrate the reason for the season and give thanks for the year that passed at Shang’s Simbang Gabi from Dec. 15 to 23, 8 to 9 p.m. at Level 5, Shaw Hallway.

The Manila Symphony Orchestra takes center stage on Dec. 19, 6 p.m., with A Symphony Christmas Serenade, while theater group Trumpets performs Twelve Days of Christmas on Dec. 20 at 6 p.m. Meanwhile, St. Paul College-Pasig presents Paulinians ChristmasSING on Dec. 21 at 5 p.m.

Ballet shines under the spotlight as dancers perform Santa’s Christmas Story on Dec. 22 at 6 p.m. Heavenly voices and music still abound on the day before Christmas Eve as acclaimed Filipino singers Rachel Gerodias, Lemuel dela Cruz and Andrew Fernando serenade mall-goers with ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas on Dec. 23 at 6 p.m.

On Dec. 24 at 5 p.m., musical group Trio Royale takes center stage with Christmas Strings. The Christmas series continues on Dec. 26 and 27 at 4 p.m. with a trio performance of The Wonder of Christmas and Joy to the World, respectively.

Enjoy the soothing sounds of the piano with a three-day piano series from Dec. 28 to 30 at 4 p.m. and sing along to popular Christmas tunes Angels We Have Heard on High, Christmas Rhapsody and Let There Be Peace on Earth.

As the year draws to a close, give 2009 a musical goodbye with the Kithara Trio’s renditions of classic and timeless holiday hymns on Dec. 31 at 5 p.m.

Welcoming the New Year with optimism and energy is violinist Jay Cayuca as he performs There’s Always Tomorrow on Jan. 2 at 7 p.m. This will be followed by Trumpets Viosphere’s Happy New Show on Jan. 3 at 5 p.m., which also caps off the holiday series.
