Los Baños flower and garden show

MANILA, Philippines - In conjunction with the UPLB College Foundation Day, the Los Baños Horticulture Society is sponsoring the most awaited flower and garden show with the theme “Palms and Philodendrons in the Garden,” which is ongoing until Oct. 18 at the usual site, the UPLB Senior Social Hall.

Marina Catipon, president of the Society, announced that new varieties of palms and philodendrons would be featured at the center stage exhibits and that some would be for sale.

To be formally opened by former First Lady Ming Ramos, who is an avid plant lover and patron of the Los Baños Horticulture Society, there will be commercial exhibits as well as lecture-demonstrations by plant experts on the following weekends: on Sunday, Oct. 10, master landscaper Fred Salud will talk on a practical guide to landscaping. On Oct. 11, Vic Chin will tackle the culture of Vandas, while Danny Tiu will discuss the growing of Grammatophyllums on Oct. 17. Tere Saniano will do a show-and-tell on organic gardening for healthy living on Oct. 18.

All lectures will be held at three o’clock in the afternoon, with plants and garden materials to be raffled off for free.
