MANILA, Philippines - What’s the name of Malaysia’s landmark towers, the world’s tallest until 2004?
Until 2004, when they were overtaken by Taipei 101, these towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, were the tallest buildings in the world. The skyscrapers were finished in 1998 with 88 stories each and designed by Cesar Pelli, a naturalized American from Argentina.
The towers were constructed largely of reinforced concrete with a steel-and-glass facade designed to resemble motifs found in Islamic art, a reflection of Malaysia’s Muslim heritage. The towers taper at six intervals, with the walls of the upper levels sloping inwards. They are connected at the 41st and 42nd floors by a sky bridge.
