MANILA, Philippines - It was a night of fun and style as Original Penguin took guests on a fashion Ferris Wheel, filled with pastel tees, chalk-striped tanks, and plaid button-downs. It’s a crazy world in closets this season, and the 100-year old brand by Munsingwear shows no signs of slowing it down as it featured its newest collection in a carnival themed party.
Guests were transported to the exciting land of Coney Island, complete with a Ferris Wheel backdrop and carnival goodies to munch on. Blasting the beats of today’s best music, hot DJ Callum David spun a good mix of eclectic pop hits for the crowd. Hosted by Raymond Gutierrez, the show featured Original Penguin’s newest collection, featuring celebrities Xian Lim and Slater Young.
The relatively young and hip centenarian showcases the style it knows best — irreverent, cutting-edge, with a generous dose of street-cred spanning the teddy boys of the ‘50s to the present-day indie hipsters, as seen in its line of menswear originals built to last a lot of years of playing and partying. So, it comes to no surprise, that the same brand seen on the backs of such American greats as Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Clint Eastwood, and more recently, Jack Black, Brad Pitt, Robert Pattinson, Darren Criss, Jason Segel and Keira Knightley goes from the golfing greens to the exhilarating highs, lows and loops of the Coney Island, as an exciting backdrop for its campy, colorful, yet undeniably classic new delivery.
