J-pop style comes to Cinderella

MANILA, Philippines – J-pop is having a moment with more and more Japanese pop acts coming to Manila, bringing with them their unique style — a mix of Japanese urban, vintage preppy, and grunge-punk. Yamamotosada, Cinderella’s latest addition to its roster of international retailers, echoes the stylish vibe of Japan. The brand’s Osaka origins allows it to offer a diverse selection of styles to mix and match to come up with a unique and multi-faceted J-pop-inspired look.

Through its collections, Yamamotosada takes you through the streets of downtown Japan and the cool vibe of the country’s youth and fashion capital, Harajuku. The label is well known for being on the pulse of trends as well as Japanese street style through its sub-brands Gyle, Caula and Graffiti.

Gyle or Ko Gal in Japanese offers trendy styles. This season, the line features stripes, lace and all sorts of skirts that resonate with the sunny season. The New Goth

Japanese style evolves so quickly that oftentimes, the trends are mixed together, just like Yamamotosada’s Graffiti line. It features gothic sporty Lolita style interpreted in jumpers, graphic blouses, sweaters, skater skirts and leather jackets. The line also offers shredded and ripped denim, as well as denim styles with cut-out details. This is especially big in Harajuku and Shibuya. Graffiti also incorporates current runway elements, like pleats.

Baby Doll

Caula or Mori Girl, or Nagomu Gal is for women with a penchant for the baby doll trend and vintage clothing. The Caula style, which originated in the late ‘90s, boasts pieces in black, dark or baby pink, and sometimes shots of neon. It’s known for its basic and tutu-inspired pairings with fresh-faced makeup, and hair worn in a low ponytail with bangs. The most important part of the look are the layers of cute accessories, from stockings to leg warmers and knee-high socks. Other popular details include leopard prints and patterned dental masks. In the late 2000s, the style evolved to fairy kei and over-the-top Lolita in Japan.
