Fil-Chinese couple finds fun and fortune in Rufo’s tapa franchise

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Husband and wife Dexter and Katri Tiu are fine examples of successful Chinese entrepreneurs.  They already have a flourishing livestock farm but wanted to try out the restaurant business. The couple was attracted to a Rufo’s branch located in Eastwood Mall, their interest piqued by the high volume of business 24/7.  “Moreover, we love eating at Rufo’s and we go there especially for the unique taste of their tapa,” they said. Thus, they decided to secure a franchise of something they personally love and support.  Dexter and Katri now own and operate Rufo’s in McKinley Hill at the Venice Piazza.

“Rufo’s franchise fee is reasonable and assures us of a faster return on our investment,” the couple enthused.  “Plus, all systems are already in place, which is a big help to first-time restaurateurs like us,” Dexter added.

At the recent 2013 Entrepreneur Magazine Franchise Awards, Rufo’s bagged the Fastest Growing Franchise and Best in Franchise Support, a validation of the company’s unyielding commitment to its franchisees. For Dexter and Katri, the two awards confirm that they were on the right track with Rufo’s.

“Since we launched our franchise program, we have been overwhelmed by inquiries from interested parties wanting to be part of the Rufo’s family,” said Paul Izon Reyes, president of Rufo’s Famous Franchise Corporation (RufoCorp).  “Aside from existing branches in Retiro, UST, Timog, Makati Ave., Eastwood, Las Piñas, Macapagal Ave., Vito Cruz, Shaw, McKinley Hill and selected SM malls, expect to see more stores within the next few months.

Rufo’s in McKinley Hill is doing very well, exceeding the Tius’ expectations. Like all Rufo’s stores, it is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and serves delicious, affordable and freshly cooked Filipino food with its famous tapsilog still the bestseller after all these years. Unlike the typical dry, hard and chewy tapsilog common among its competitors, Rufo’s famous tapa is soft, juicy and served with a rich, sweet sauce. Other comfort foods include liempo, boneless bangus, pork chops, sisig and other Filipino favorites, most of which go perfectly with ice-cold beer.

Rufo’s in McKinley Hill is located on the second floor of Venice Piazza, Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City. It is the only Rufo’s branch in the Taguig area that provides 24/7 delivery to Fort Bonifacio, McKinley Hill and Global City. Visit their store or call 779-8272 and 624-5050 for more information.
