Letran celebrates 386 years

-
The two-week 386th foundation celebration of Colegio de San Juan de Letran comes to a grand finale with the Institutional Christmas Party on Wednesday, December 20. On that day hundreds of religious heads, academic heads, faculty members, staff and employees will converge at the Letran gym in their retro outfits to join in a Thanksgiving Mass, partake of a sumptuous lunch and participate in games and win raffle prizes.

Letran's foundation celebration was marked with a series of school activities at the grounds from December 6 to 20. With its theme "Letranites: Responding to the Challenges of Globalization in the 21st Century," this year's festivity was chaired by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences under Dean Jolaflor Cabildo.

The daily celebrations began with a Novena Mass at the College Chapel at 7 a.m., followed by events evenly spread out during the period.

A grand parade took place on December 13 at 8 a.m. followed by a field demonstration of students in all levels. This much-anticipated event showcased the dancing prowess of elementary, high school and collegiate students in a friendly competition. On the same day, the Social Science Area held a Heritage Quiz.

One of the highlights of the celebration was a symposium on globalization which was held on December 14, with Dr. Ethel Agnes Valenzuela, head researcher at SEAMEO Innotech, as speaker.

Ronald Dugang of the Center for Community Development headed a gift-giving activity on December 15 and a bingo session also took place on December 18 at 1 p.m.
