MANILA, Philippines — Even temporary quarantine facilities are now at moderate risk.

At a press briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire reported that temporary treatment and monitoring facilities (TTMFs) are steadily filling up with COVID-19 patients, placing the utilization rate for mega TTMFs nationwide at moderate risk.

Data showed 63 percent capacity (1,411 of the 2,222 beds) of 12 facilities reporting to the DOH occupied.

“This is an aggregate number because we see mega TTMFs that are already on high risk utilization, but there are other TTMFs that have not reached half of their capacity,” Vergeire clarified.

TTMFs are being used to decongest hospitals of mild and asymptomatic patients.

“(For) those who are needing quarantine and isolation facilities, we refer them to these mega facilities,” Vergeire said. “Also, we are using these facilities as step-down care facilities to decongest hospitals.”
