MANILA, Philippines— The flag down rate for taxis is now back to P40.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board said taxi services in the National Capital Region and provinces except those in the Cordillera Administrative Region are “permanently authorized to increase flag down fare in the amount of P10 resulting in the flag down fare of P40.”

On the other hand, the LTFRB said taxi services in CAR should now implement an increase of P5 making the flag down fare now at P35.

The board also set a P13.50 charge per additional kilometer and P2 per minute of travel time for NCR and other provinces including CAR.

LTFRB Chair Martin Delgra III signed the resolution adjusting the taxi fare after several transport groups filed petitions since 2016.

The LTFRB said the taxi fare hike would be “effective after publication in newspaper of general circulation unless modified, revoked and or cancelled by the board.”

During a Senate hearing last September, Delgra said they have agreed to adjust the taxi fares to make it at par with the rates of ride-sharing companies Uber and Grab.

The recent resolution of the board, however, stemmed from separate petitions filed by Philippine National Taxi Operators Association, Association of Taxi Operators of Panay, Inc. and Tata Trans Corp., as well as Drivers Unite for Mass Progress Equality and Reality Philippines.
