Epi Fabonan III - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -  PhilSTAR Media Group, the company that publishes The Philippine STAR, the leading broadsheet newspaper in the country, bagged five awards at the 52nd Anvil Awards Gabi ng Parangal held last Friday at the Rizal Ballroom of the Makati Shangri-La Hotel.

The STAR garnered four Silver Anvils while sister publication BusinessWorld brought home a Gold Anvil.

The campaigns and projects that garnered the Silver Anvil are #Journeyto30, a series of feature articles from Jan. 3 to July 28, 2016 that looked back at The STAR’s famous headlines over the past 30 years, in celebration of newspaper’s 30th anniversary; the short film Cardboard Balita, which was conceptualized with the help of creative agency IdeasXMachina (IXM) and directed by TV commercial director Dindo Angeles; the multimedia advocacy campaign #PilasPinas in August 2016 in observance of National Heroes’ Day; and the second season of PhilSTAR TV and Cinema One’s groundbreaking rom-com series Single/Single.

Meanwhile, the 1st BusinessWorld Economic Forum held on July 12 at the Shangri-La at The Fort in Taguig City brought home the Gold Anvil. The forum brought together some of the biggest names in Philippine business and economic policy including Vice President Leni Robredo, Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III, MVP Group of Companies chairman Manny V. Pangilinan and PhilSTAR Media Group president and CEO Miguel Belmonte. The business newspaper plans to hold another forum this May 19, also at the Shangri-La at The Fort, in celebration of its 30th anniversary.

PhilSTAR Media Group EVP Lucien Dy Tioco personally received the five Anvils awarded to each project during the 52nd Anvil Awards Gabi ng Parangal.

“Aside from setting a new record of attaining five awards for PhilSTAR Media Group, it also recognizes the group’s multimedia capabilities. Not only does it showcase the success of these campaigns, but the unique creative work behind these efforts,” Dy Tioco said about the company’s latest laurels.
