Caraga region updates

A policeman is now detained for killing with his service pistol a couple in Butuan City Monday night.

In a statement released to media outfits Tuesday, the Butuan City Police Office identified the fatalities as Charlie Añasco and his wife, Mary Anne, who died on the spot from multiple bullet wounds.

The victims were together in a black Toyoto Vios car that had just pulled over in their frontyard from somewhere when the suspect, Police Master Sgt. Darwin Plaza Nolasco, approached from behind and repeatedly shot them one after another.

Nolasco is a member of the municipal police force in nearby Dinagat town in Agusan del Sur. -- The STAR/John Unson
