MANILA, Philippines — Wilbert Ross expresses his emotions and love through music, which is his love language.

One of the songs that best reflects his feelings is Avianna.

“I expressed my feelings through songs,” he said during a presscon, adding that he was able to pen the lyrics, “Ikaw ang noon, ngayon at sa habang buhay,” in his indie-pop track Avianna, which was named after a fictional character.

He also told The STAR during an interview at the Kaogma Festival 2026 in Camarines Sur that he would woo someone by singing. Fittingly, he serenaded the contestants of Miss Kaogma Philippines 2026 during the festival.

“Kinakantahan ko yung mga niligawan ko in person or over the phone,” he shared. “I’m good at that — writing songs. That’s where I pour out my feelings because I’m not really the sweet type in other ways.”

The “Golden Scenery of Tomorrow” actor is set to mount his two-day sold-out concert, titled “WRten By,” at the New Frontier Theater on July 25 and 26.

A video of Wilbert turning emotional after learning that tickets for both shows had sold out within an hour of going on sale was uploaded online.

“That was my initial reaction when I found out the shows were sold out,” he said. “For the past few weeks leading up to the ticket selling, I was anxious because I didn’t know what to expect. Never akong naging kampante sa kahit anong bagay sa career ko. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to fill the venue or if people would come to watch me.

“My only thought at that time was for the tickets to sell out kahit gaano katagal. Hindi ako sure kung makakaulit pa ako. This is the perfect chance to do it and to share my music. That was my only wish,” he added.

Wilbert is also celebrating a decade in showbiz. He first gained public attention as a contestant on “Tawag ng Tanghalan” and “Pinoy Boyband Superstar” in 2016. He later became a member of the boy group Hashtags from the noontime variety show, “It’s Showtime,” and went on to appear in “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” “Nokturno,” “Ang Lalaki sa Likod ng Profile” and “Pagpag 24/7” and on Vivamax’s “Boy Bastos.”

He signed with Viva Artists Agency in 2020 and landed the role of Arkin Sanchez in Viva One’s “University Series,” which paved the way for his first lead role in “Golden Scenery of Tomorrow,” opposite Bea Binene.

On the popularity of his love team with Bea, Wilbert believed it stems from their authenticity.

“Maybe it’s our authenticity,” he stated. “May mga bagay naman ako na pwedeng gawin para magpa-kilig sa fans, pero hindi ko po siya ginagawa. May mga bagay na sinasadya kunti-kunti, pero hindi po ganun yung goal.”

“We are just being who we are, and it comes out onscreen because we’re comfortable with each other. We always make sure that we’re OK, ‘OK ka ba or OK ba ko?’ Hindi po yun naiiwan. We make sure that we’re comfortable kaya po siguro lumalabas po yung sa screen na mas natural po yung mga bagay-bagay at yung acting po namin,” he shared.

Off-screen, the two are also supportive of each other, Wilbert shared that Bea supports his music career, and they are set to launch a joint business venture.

“She always streams my songs,” he enthused. “Even something as simple as streaming my songs means a lot to me because, of course, I wrote them. My full emotions are in those songs.”

“She would also read my letters. I let her read my letters and even asked for her kasi mabilis po siyang magbasa, eh. And I liked her idea sa mga bagay-bagay like last time, I presented some pictures to Viva for projects, and we did it together. We’re at that point now where we really help each other,” he said.

Aside from Avianna, some of Wilbert’s latest single releases are Ginintuang Tanawin, Ikaw Ang Aking Musika and Paggising Kong Muli.
