MANILA, Philippines — Vic Sotto's eyes twinkled when he replied "surprise" to the question of whether he would be fielding an entry to the milestone 50th year of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) this year.

"Surprise," he said to the press last Saturday after his special birthday bash on "Eat Bulaga" held in TV5's Media Center in Mandaluyong City.

When a reporter clarified if he will be making an entry but not another "Enteng Kabisote," the movie franchise he is most famous starring in, Vic was still tight-lipped.

"Iba naman. Iba na ang panahon ngayon so makakaasa sila ng kakaiba talaga," he said, without confirming if he will be joining this year's MMFF.

Enteng Kabisote is Vic's character from the 1990s sitcom "Okay Ka, Fairy Ko."

Enteng is a human who falls in love with a fairy and tries to raise his family in the human world, with a little bit of comedy, mishaps and magic in between, thanks to his fairy wife, Faye (which was a character that was portrayed by several actresses in films and TV, including Tweetie de Leon and Alice Dixson). The TV show ran from 1987 to 1997.

The popular TV shows spawned MMFF entries. These were "Enteng Kabisote: OK Ka Fairy Ko... The Legend" (2004), "Enteng Kabisote 4: Okay Ka Fairy Ko... The Beginning of the Legend" (2007) and "Enteng ng Ina Mo" (2011), which is a crossover film with another popular movie franchise starring AiAi delas Alas, "Ang Tanging Ina."

Since he has been doing crossover films, he was asked if he would be open to working with Vice Ganda, one of the hosts of "It's Showtime," the rival show of his "Eat Bulaga."

Vice is also a popular MMFF actor, with a number of his films included as an official entry in its past iterations.

"It's not impossible. Pero siguro in the future, why not? Wala akong pinipili," said Vic.
