MANILA, Philippines — The woman who alleged that Noven Belleza sexually assaulted her has dropped the criminal lawsuit that was filed against him.

According to Cebu-based publication The Freeman, the 19-year-old complainant executed a one-page affidavit of desistance on Tuesday before the sala of Regional Trial Court Judge James Stewart Ramon Himalaloan of Branch 7 in Cebu City.

“After my sober and soul-searching assessment and analysis of this case, I have realized that I have reached the point that I am no longer interested in pursuing the case due to inordinately adverse effects it brought to me and my family,” the affidavit read.

“In my earnest desire to achieve peace of mind, I am permanently withdrawing my complaint against the accused,” it added.

Belleza, the first champion of the hit singing contest "Tawag ng Tanghalan" was reportedly arrested on July 16 after he performed in Vice Ganda's concert, for the alleged rape of a fellow contestant in a condo in Lahug a day before the concert in Mabolo, Cebu City.

The complainant, whose identity was withheld due to the nature of the case, was reportedly hurt when she declined to give in to the demands of Belleza.

Belleza and the victim were said to be friends and "text mates," having met at "It's Showtime" where both of them were contestants.

From rape, the Cebu City RTC has lowered the case to sexual assault. Belleza gained his temporary liberty after posting bail.
