Meet Fernando Alvarez who calls himself a Pinoy-Rican

MANILA, Philippines - Barely three months after finishing first runner-up (to India’s Rohit Khandelwal) in the 2016 Search of the World’s Most Desirable Men in the UK, Puerto Rico’s Fernando Alberto Alvarez Soto (photo) is back in the Philippines for the fourth time.

At the bienvenida presscon last Oct. 6 hosted by Psalmstre Enterprises, Inc. CEO/founder Jim Acosta and PEI marketing manager Maryo Capon, Alvarez said that he considers the Philippines his second home and described himself as a “Pinoy-Rican.” He’s currently enrolled in Filipino lessons in preparation for a possible casting in a teleserye in a leading network. He will stay in the country until November.

Acosta introduced Alvarez to members of the media (television, print and online). Alvarez arrived a few days ago as the newest brand ambassador of New Placenta for Men. Acosta revealed that owing to his international appeal, and other factors, Alvarez won over two other aspirants (also 2016 Mister International graduates) and signed a 16-month contract. Acosta also shared that Alvarez’s parents will help in the distribution of Placenta soaps in Puerto Rico.

Alvarez finished as one of the Top 10 finalists in the Mister International 2015 held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila. He also received the corporate awards Mister New Placenta and Mister Diamond.

Alvarez is an accounting senior from the University of Puerto Rico. He hails from Coamo, Central Puerto Rico, the third oldest town in that country which is full of history and has the only natural hot spring water.

A two-time Best Male Model awardee in his country, Alvarez has undergone acting workshops.
