PVB holds screening of guerrilla movie

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Following the release of the film documentary of the same title last September, Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB) together with Spyron-AV Manila, launched the coffee-table book Unsurrendered 2: The Hunters-ROTC Guerrillas at the QXC Interactive Museum in Quezon Memorial Circle in Diliman, Quezon City.

The book, a collection of recollections, photos, anecdotes, reminiscences and retellings of the heroics and adventures of the famed Hunter-ROTC Guerrillas, is an elegantly-designed publication meant to serve as a companion to the film. With both book and film, the generations of today will know how a group of teenaged cadets, deemed too young to join the war in 1942, took refuge in the mountains of Antipolo and organized themselves to become one of the more effective and resilient resistance movements in the country during World War II.

Through the book, both PVB and Spyron-AV hope to enrich the World War II history of the Philippines by adding to it the largely untold story of the Hunters and the important contributions that their group and the thousands of other Filipino guerrilla fighters made during the war, especially during the so-called Liberation of the Philippines in 1945.

The book launch featured a special screening of the 53-minute documentary of Unsurrendered 2 that will be immediately followed by a book signing by the authors and historians who penned the various articles comprising the tome.

Officials from both PVB and Spyron-AV were hosts at the twin events with PVB chairman and CEO Roberto de Ocampo, OBE, delivering a special address to the attendees. PVB chairman emeritus Col. Emmanuel de Ocampo, one of the Hunter leaders, delivered an inspirational talk.

Speaker Feliciano Belmonte welcomed guests to the occasion and thanked them for choosing to hold the book launch at Quezon City’s newest events venue.
