Politics for beginners

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - In line with its effort to raise awareness for the 2016 Philippine elections, TV5 is proud to present Politics for Beginners. The show is first of its kind as it provides basic information regarding the election and politics in the country using easy-to-understand conversation and info graphics.

The hosts Jun “Bayaw” Sabayton and lawyer Mel Sta. Maria (photo) will take turns in explaining the legal aspects of election and the peculiar setting of Philippine politics. For its pilot episode, Politics for Beginners will discuss who can run for public office?

Why do we require entry-level civil servants to be college graduates while candidates for the highest office should just be able to read and write? Why did we lower the age qualification for the Office of the President? What is residency and what is citizenship?

Find out the answers during the initial telecast tonight at 10:30 on TV5.
