Mila Amunategui: Miss Caltex ’62

In 1962, the gasoline company Caltex launched the search for Miss Caltex Philippines, which turned out to be a very prestigious personality and beauty contest. Mila Amunategui won as Miss Caltex Philippines ’62, with the following as finalists: Maggie de la Riva, Shirley Cuyugan, Esther Zuluaga and Tessie Lisazo.

The five girls came from all over the Philippines, chosen from hundreds of aspirants.

Mila became an executive of Philippine Airlines, while Maggie joined the movies.

After Mila, came other Miss Caltex winners: Amy Reyes, Elsa Payumo, Susan Suarez and Aurora Patricio. —RKC
