Jasmine Curtis-Smith: Anne 'deeply affected, moving on' after nightclub incident

MANILA, Philippines – Jasmine Curtis-Smith said her sister Anne Curtis is trying to remain professional and positive amid the controversy surrounding her reported nightclub meltdown at a nightclub in Taguig City last month.

“We can see that she’s moving on from whatever happened and she’s just trying to stay positive amidst all that’s happening,” Jasmine told members of the press.

Anne is currently in Abu Dhabi for a concert.

The 19-year-old actress admitted Anne was “affected deeply” by the controversy. However, she refused to comment on the issue any further because she “does not want to make the issue bigger than what it is.”

“I wasn’t there, hindi ko alam yung details so I cannot comment on anything and I cannot share my opinion because sa amin na yun ni ate,” the “Transit” star said.

Asked if she and Anne felt “betrayed” that the issue still came out in the news even after the Kapamilya star apologized to the parties involved, Jasmime said: “I leave that for the public to wonder about kasi kami ni ate, okay na kami. Ayaw na naming palakihin pa. Natapos na siya. So it’s time to just let it go.”
   
Different journey

Jasmine talked to members of the press during her contract renewal with TV5 on Wednesday, December 11.

The young actress first signed with the TV5 in 2010, making her one of the network’s first homegrown artists.

Jasmine said she considers her time with the Kapatid network now as some sort of payback since she was mostly away during her first three years with TV5 (she was based in Australia, where she finished high school, until early 2013).

“Ang tagal kong nawala and pag bumabalik ako, sobrang saglit lang. So it’s time na bumawi ako sa time na wala ako,” she explained. “And sa sobrang mahal nila ako. And, ako naman, mahal ko rin sila.”

She added: “I just have to say I felt content with TV5. I know I’m gonna be good here. And why leave if maganda naman yung biyahe ko sa TV5.”

The TV5 artist had a breakthrough as an actress this year when she won an acting award for her performance in the Cinemalaya film “Transit,” the country’s official entry to next year’s Oscars.

Many claim Jasmine is the better actress between her and Anne, but the Kapatid star merely shrugs off this comment.

“People will have their opinion. And it took Anne so long to get to where she is now and to have the skills she has now,” she said.

“Magkaiba kami ng journey ni ate in terms of our career so I couldn’t say na mas magaling ako sa kanya because I still need to attend workshops or learn from other actors.”

Jasmine, who is currently hosting the late night Saturday social media music show SPINNation, is slated to have work on a TV drama and a movie with TV5.
