Ney headlines Congo Grille’s OPM nights
MANILA, Philippines - With jam-packed OPM sessions every night, Congo Grille Tomas Morato has become the go-to restaurant for barkada groups looking to bond over flavorful cuisine, while in the company of topnotch musicians.
Among the headliners is alt-rocker Ney Dimaculangan (photo), the former frontman of 6cyclemind, who takes the stage and pumps up the crowd every Saturday night.
After parting ways with the band in 2011, Ney established himself as a successful solo act with hits like Ligaw, Sana and Darating. Ligaw, in particular, helped him bag the 2012 Awit Awards’ Best Performance by a New Male Recording Artist trophy.
“It’s really cool for Congo Grille to open up their restaurant for gigs,†he shares. “It’s great for the performers to connect with their followers in a different environment and likewise great for fans to experience another dimension of the artists’ musically.â€
With going solo an outlet for boundless creativity for many artists, Ney said that performing on his own gives him the opportunity to indulge in personal musical preferences. “I perform anything under the sun, be it my own songs or covers from various artists,†says Ney. “I don’t really limit myself as far as genres go.â€
Music lovers in the metro can look forward to rocking out with Ney while hanging out and dining on Congo Grille’s award-winning sizzling pork sisig, tuna belly and laing, which Ney singles out as his favorite dish along with kuhol.
For an exciting night filled with delectable Pinoy eats and the best local beats, look no further than Congo Grille Tomas Morato.
