Smart short-listed in TM Forum Excellence Awards 2011

MANILA, Philippines - Smart Communications Inc. has entered the finals of the prestigious TM Forum Excellence Awards 2011-Business Innovation category.

The entry from Smart, together with Huawei Software Co., is a service delivery platform (SDP) that supports several requirements: the offering of Internet services in “bite-size chunks” to address the needs of a dominantly prepaid market, the accommodation of services and applications of third party developers, and the capacity to integrate services covering not only telecoms but also utility, health, commerce and other industries.

Smart is the only Philippine telco whose entry was named a nominee in the TM Forum Excellence Awards-Business Innovation category.

The other entries nominated in the category include China Unicom, Chunghwa Telecom Co. and Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Co. (EITC).

The TM Forum Business Innovation Award is given to the communications service provider demonstrating the most innovative and successful new service or business model.

It is one of four awards handed out during the annual TM Forum Excellence Awards; the others are leadership, operational excellence, and solution excellence.

The winners in all categories will be announced before more than 3,500 delegates to the Keynote Perspective opening session at TM Forum’s Management World 2011 in Dublin, Ireland on May 24.
