1st Sony Ericsson GreenHeart phone now out

MANILA, Philippines -The first pioneer product to be launched in the Sony Ericsson GreenHeart portfolio, the C901 GreenHeart, is now be available in local stores. 

Sony Ericsson announced globally recently that it would introduce GreenHeart products underpinning its ongoing commitment to take the lead in environmental sustainability.  Under the GreenHeart project, products are developed with lower overall environmental impact without compromising on style or functionality. 

“The key environmental innovations from our GreenHeart study such as reduced packaging, elimination of the paper manual and the choice of cleaner materials will be implemented in other products in the portfolio,” said Hirokazu Ishizuka, Sony Ericsson corporate vice president and head for the Asia-Pacific.

Two other pioneer GreenHeart products, Naite, a high-speed Net-enabled phone with active desktop and interactive calendar, and the MH300 headset, which uses 100-percent recycled plastic in most of its parts, are scheduled for local release later this year.

The C901 GreenHeart comes with a host of quality features and green innovations. It features a five-megapixel camera with built-in Xenon flash. 

Imaging features include Face Detection, Smile Shutter and BestPic, a Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot feature that lets you click the camera once and get nine pictures in quick succession.

High-resolution shots can be viewed instantly on the crystal clear 2.2-inch scratch-resistant mineral glass display or sent to a blog, Web album, Facebook or for online print ordering. The phone is also YouTube- and Facebook-enabled.

As a GreenHeart product, the C901 includes an in-phone manual replacing the standard paper version, significantly reducing paper and giving instant access to the product support guide. The phone was also made from a minimum of 50-percent recycled plastic.

The optimized display light sensor uses less energy. All these, plus the use of waterborne paint, mean that the overall carbon dioxide emissions of the C901 GreenHeart are decreased by 15 percent.

The C901GreenHeart also includes the WalkMate application that lets users walk the talk about being eco-friendly. By comparing the steps taken with the equivalent journey traveled by car, WalkMate reveals the greener choice by showing just how much carbon dioxide is saved.
