Korean agency holds forum on digital trends

MANILA, Philippines - Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), a government agency under the Korea Communications Commission (KCC), specializing in national information security, national Internet development and international cooperation in the area of ICT and broadcasting, recently held the Philippines-Korea Communications Convergence Forum at the Intercontinental Manila Hotel, sponsored by the KCC.

The KCC aims to manage broadcasting and communications industry worldwide with full authority and promote the convergence process between broadcasting and telecommunications, convergence service, user control and interactivity, fair competition user protection, and single organization for policy and regulation.

Lee Kyeong-Jae, a member of the current 18th National Assembly of Korea, Philippine and Korean government officials and around 200 professionals working in the industry also joined the forum.

KISA vice president Song Yun-Ho discussed Korea’s high rate of broadband and IPTV usage. He mentioned that the event would enhance the two countries’ relationship and partnership.

Speakers also stressed important developments for Philippine and Korean companies in the broadcasting and communications industry.

DMB Alliances, ETRI, SKT, KT, RAPA and KAIT introduced and demonstrated their core technologies to participants from both countries.

In addition, the National Telecommunications Commission discussed radio frequency management system and broadband/mobile telecommunication market trends in the Philippines.

Cooperation and partnership developments between Korean and Philippine companies were also discussed.

Reflecting on future digital trends, the event introduced and promoted Korean communication technologies in the Philippines where interest in technology and business cooperation, investment and trade has been strongly established in the past years.
