Ford rolls out new Ranger Wildtrak

MANILA, Philippines - Ford Group Philippines un veiled recently an exciting urban lifestyle variant to its Ranger pickup truck line, which was introduced last March. Dubbed Ranger Wildtrak, the new Ranger variant is the production offshoot of the overwhelmingly popular Ranger Max Concept, which debuted at last December’s Bangkok Motor Show.

The new Ranger Wildtrak, which comes with a 4x2 drivetrain but boasts a high-riding 4x4-like stance, is positioned as the urban lifestyle truck for customers who want a tough truck that compliments their active and urban lifestyle.

“The Ranger Wildtrak builds upon the new Ranger’s Tough Style design and genuine class-leading Built Ford Tough strength and durability that have made it one of the most respected trucks in the market,” said Ford Group Philippines Vice President for Marketing and Sales Steven Tan.

“Add the Ford customized exterior body design treatments and unique features, and there is no other truck that matches the Wildtrak’s combination of good looks and all-round capability of best-in-class engine performance and driving quality. It has instant street credibility as an urban lifestyle vehicle. I want one too,” he added.

Exclusive Wildtrak features include body-colored tailgate cladding with embossed Ranger branding, box rails and roof rails with aluminum bar accents, a frame mounted aluminum gray side step with titanium-colored end caps, a sleek sports bar mounted on the pickup bed behind the cab and distinctive Wildtrak decals on the front doors and tailgate.

The unique-to-Wildtrak under-rail bedliner, body side cladding, illuminated scuff plates with Wildtrak logo, and front bumper overrider bring a new styling dimension to the Ranger series. The exclusive 16-inch Wildtrak alloy wheels complete the overall design package.

The Ranger Wildtrak is equipped with a four-sensor, three-channel, four-wheel antilock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) to provide maximum braking performance under all road and driving conditions.

Even with its proven truck toughness and capabilities, the Ranger’s interior offers car-like comfort and low noise/vibration/harshness (NVH) levels, thanks to ergonomically crafted seats, climate control, MP3-compatible audio and a body shell engineered to isolate the cabin from road noise – even on the busy streets of Manila.

The Ranger series offers an array of clever stowage solutions, including a front-door stowage bin that holds a half-litre water bottle and a handy pull-out tray above the glove compartment. The sliding tray, extending across the width of the passenger side of the dashboard, supports a weight of 10 kilograms and can be used as a work surface.

The pickup’s instrument panel features the contemporary and relaxing appeal of red illumination from its three large, individual gauges – each set within its own binnacle – ensuring excellent visibility day and night, and also giving the truck’s interior a dynamic feel.

The gray-and-black color scheme in the passenger cabin enhances the sporty look and feel, while high-quality materials as well as high levels of fit and finish endow the Ranger with an upscale, luxurious feel.

The new Ford Ranger Wildtrak is powered by Ford’s Duratorq TDCi common-rail engine. It offers class-leading torque for excellent off-the-line acceleration and quick response. No other compact pickup matches the ability of the Ranger series to deliver excellent low-rev torque. The 2.5-litre TDCi engine also packs a potent punch, developing 330Nm at a very accessible 1,800 rpm.

The new Ford Ranger Wildtrak is available in a 4x2 Double Cab High Rider body style configuration and in 5-speed manual and 5-speed automatic transmissions. The new Ranger Wildtrak, which comes in three distinctive colors (Black Mica, Winning Blue and Cool White) retails for P1,080,000 for the stickshift model and P1,135,000 for the automatic.
