LADY SPEEDSTER RUNNING FOURTH IN TRS-FORD LYNX CUP

-
One of the hottest issues of the new millennium is gender equality and it is something that is certainly being practiced in the wild and wooly world of motor racing.

In the ongoing TRS (Tuason Racing School)-Ford Lynx Cup presented by Addict Mobile, one competitor is showing that being a lady is never a reason not to go out and play — on even terms — with the boys.

Pia-Liza Boren, 21, currently occupies a solid fourth place in the standings and is a commentator’s delight whenever she takes to the tarmac at the Batangas Racing Circuit in her race-prepared Ford Lynx.

During the last round of the series, which was held last July 27, the Canadian-born driver knifed her way up from last place all the way up to fourth and posted a lap time which was just two tenths off the best lap record. The performance caused quite a stir among the other competitors and within her team.

According to Pia’s Edgesport teammate Eggay Quesada, "I never thought that havig a lady teammate would be such a motivating factor for me. It would really be embarrassing if she beat me and the thought keeps me on my toes." Quesada is now third behind series co-leaders Jeff Borja and Dominic Ochoa.

According to Edgesdport director Edgen Dy-Liacco, "Pia is truly gifted. A driver usually has to spend several seasons in Karting before moving up to cars. In her case, I decided to put her into a touring car after seeing what she can do."

Boren will participate in the remaining legs of the series, which are scheduled for September 20 to 21, October 11 to 12 and November 29 to 30.
