A night of champions and sponsors

The movers and shakers of the business community including industrialists, bankers and investors in the construction and real estate ventures were all delighted at the prospect of spending an afternoon at the verdant fairways of the Sta. Elena Golf and Country Club instead of staying within the confines of their offices. What was the event? It was the 2011 Mercedes Trophy – the annual invitational all-amateur golf tournament (now on its sixth year) among Benz owners organized by CATS Motors, Inc., the general distributor of Mercedes-Benz automobiles in the Philippines. This is one of the tournaments that top players coming from the business communities look forward to every year where Mercedes-Benzes are at stake for the winners and “hole-in-one” prizes. To kick off the tournament, low-profile chairman of CATS Motors Greg Yu and the charming, innovative and brilliant president Felix Ang hosted cocktails at the posh Makati Shangri-La Hotel to pay tribute to the men and women who remained as partners and players in the much-coveted Mercedes Trophy. Several of the prizes were on display to tickle everyone’s aspirations and to have a brief opportunity to learn about the rules of play. The occasion also marked the return this year of Cathay Pacific as the tournament’s official airline partner. Among the movers and shakers seen were Cathay Pacific country manager Ed Higgs, Shell chairman and president Edgar Chua, Canon president Alan Chng, PLDT senior vice president Eric Alberto and Makati Shangri-La Hotel general manager Reto Klauser. Hoseki sets a new, dazzling record

Knoi Esmane, the brilliantly, talented designer of Hoseki, the country’s premier jewelry designer led by dynamic founder Faico, recently marked a new record as the only designer who won two Silver Awards during the 8^th International South Sea Pearl Jewelry Design Competition in Hong Kong. Among more than 700 entries worldwide, Knoi’s exceptional masterpieces, “Genesis Brooch” and “Eternal Love Necklace” won the hearts of the distinguished board of judges. Congratulations and bravo Knoi and Hoseki for making the country proud once again!
